How Do We Know if We Have the Right Insurance?
Here’s the thing – I’m a lawyer, not an insurance broker. Meaning that I can help point you in the right direction, but I can’t answer ALL of your insurance questions.
Every organization is different, and there are tons of other one-offs that could come up. That’s why it’s so important to have an insurance agent you trust that understands your mission and activities.
Here are a couple of situations where a nonprofit might need some extra coverage or advice:
- Serving liquor at an event
- Storing customers’ personal data
- Providing professional services, like tax preparation
When it comes to possible liabilities, it’s ALWAYS better to ask rather than to assume. And it’s best to ask an insurance agent that really gets nonprofits. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure – or thousands of dollars in legal fees!
Have a particular insurance need or concern? Need a referral? Schedule a member consult, and I can help point you in the right direction!
